Sir John Anthony Pople, KBE, PhD (Cantab.), DHC (Cantab.)

One of the founding fathers of quantum chemistry, Prof. John A. Pople, passed away on March 15, 2004. More details will be added as they become available.

Prof. Pople shared the 1998 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Walter Kohn (b. 1923). A partial listing of other awards includes the WATOC Schroedinger Medal, the Humphrey Davy Medal of the Royal Society (London, 1988), the Wolf Prize (Israel, 1992) , the Kirkwood Medal (1994), the ACS Award in Theoretical Chemistry (1998), the Legion of Honor (France, 1999), Doctor Honoris Causa (Cambridge University, 2001), and Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (2003).
